Good morning from Roemer’s Run!
It is a beautiful morning here on the Run. After 11 years of being here I am still amazed at all the wonderful things that we get to experience each day, it never gets old.
As I walk down the stairs this morning I am greeted first by the gladiolus that are sitting at the bottom of the staircase. It is wonderful to see the change that is taking place each day. This is the first year that we have tried to grow flowers from seed. It may be late in the year, but I still appreciate their beauty for however long that they will last.
From there I am off to meet the horses as they are hungry and quite talkative as they wait for their breakfast. All of them are quite excited as the food comes over the fence. They are happy to see me, but once there is food on the ground it is a lot like “Doug who “.
Now it is time to harvest some potatoes for dinner tonight. We are growing them in an old manure spreader. I took out about 4 plants and ended up with 12 pounds of potatoes. There is nothing better than potatoes fresh from the garden. I have them peeled and ready for tonight.
I am not sure that this will be that exciting are simple little life on the run, but i feel that it is a very special place and I just wanted to share it.
Have a wonderful day everyone and thank you for stopping by.
